Maeve Cairney (nee Horan), born in Dublin but one of the many who “went West” in 2006, now lives near the scenic village of Kinvara in South Galway. She has been singing in public practically all of her life. From school musical productions to Church choirs/Folk groups, many people have enjoyed the pleasure and experience of Maeve’s talent over the years.
Following several years of study at
Bel Canto School of Singing
, Maeve performed with
Lyric Opera Chorus
and the
Cantabile Singers
in the National Concert Hall and other venues throughout Dublin. These performances allowed her to develop her vocal range as a soprano and an extensive repertoire.
This repertoire includes classical, contemporary and traditional pieces suited to any venue/event; corporate, religious or informal. Maeve is quick to learn and willing to approach any song requested of her. From April-October 2007 Maeve was been employed as one of the entertainers for
Shannon Heritage
, performing 5 nights per week in
Dunguaire Castle
and will be there again for the 2008 season.
“Music forms an integral part of any family event and is synonymous with our Irish culture. So what better way to mark an occasion than with some appropriate songs performed in a thought provoking and respectful way? I would be happy to help you choose the music/songs and find a suitable accompanist (harpist, organist, guitarist etc) to meet your personal needs. While I am based in Galway, my areas of coverage include counties Clare, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Offaly and Tipperary also. Have a listen to the
Song Samples
on this site and I’d be delighted to know what you think.” Maeve, October 2007.
